The Sun Devils started their practice for the Las Vegas Bowl on December 15th against Fresno State.

Injury update

Quarterback Ryan Kelley was the only one that headed to the bubble on Wednesday.

Jalen Harvey once again only participated in drills and not actually 11-on-11s.

Cam Phillips returned to action after being in the bubble all practice on Tuesday.

Notes

During 11-on-11s, cornerback Chase Lucas almost had an interception, but dropped it while going against Brandon Aiyuk. The next play, Pac-12 Defensive Freshman of the Year Merlin Robertson got the pick in coverage against Ryan Jenkins.

A day after Herm Edwards said he’d get playing time in the Las Vegas bowl, Geordon Porter caught a deep ball from Manny Wilkins with a nice dive at the end of the play to reel it in.

When the kick returners were getting reps before team stretches, Casey Tucker, Cade Cote and Tommy Hudson decided to give it a go. Hudson caught about five in-a-row, while keeping them in his hands the whole time. Tucker and Cote one handed theirs, but when Isaiah Floyd tried to catch his with one hand and missed, Wilkins teased him for thinking he was actually going to catch it.
