The Arizona State Sun Devils were pushed out of the AP Top 25 following a 77-70 home loss to archrival Arizona.
UA bumped up three spots to No. 17, while Kansas jumped to No. 8 and Xavier remained at fourth.
The Sun Devils, who ranked 25th last week, earned 32 votes, receiving the third-most votes of any unranked team. Along with ASU, then-No. 23 Oklahoma, then-No. 21 Texas A&M fell out of the rankings. Houston (23), Middle Tennessee State (24) and Florida State (25) leaped into the Top 25 after in-conference sweeps.
In other rankings, ASU’s RPI is 29th. The Sun Devils placed 35th in the KenPom ratings and are a projected 8-seed in the Monday’s Bracketology.
Arizona State travels to Oregon and Oregon State this week, before welcoming the Bay Area schools to Tempe for a regular season series finale. At eighth place in the Pac-12, the Sun Devils would need to win out to have a chance at a Pac-12 Tournament bye.
In last facing the Oregon Schools, the Sun Devils split the series, losing by four to Oregon and beating OSU by two the second weekend of January.
