On January 25, safety Cameron Phillips decommitted from SMU. Thirteen days later, he inked himself in as a member of Herm Edwards’ squad in Tempe.

Phillips was deciding between between ASU and its Pac-12 foe Utah before choosing the Sun Devils on National Signing Day. The Houston, Texas native is rated as a three-star by both 247Sports and ESPN.
The 6-foot-2, 180-pound safety from Clear Lake High School visited Tempe on January 26, just a day after decommitting from SMU.
In his senior season at Clear Lake, Phillips recorded 82 tackles, including 22 solo. Now, tackles aren’t the best indicator of a defensive back’s talent, but Phillips did record 13 pass deflections in 2017.
