For the past few months, Athletic Director Ray Anderson has stressed the fact that ASU should be getting four- and five-star recruits. Well, after National Signing Day on Wednesday, the Devils made a statement adding four-star linebacker Merlin Robertson to the list of talented defensive athletes.

Robertson is the 130th ranked player in the country, according to 247Sports and the 179th-ranked player, according to ESPN.
The 6-foot-3, 240-pound linebacker from Gardena, California visited Tempe on January 12, but used his last visit to travel to Illinois on January 26. The Illini, along with USC and Oklahoma were at the forefront of Robertson’s recruiting.
Robertson took part in the Under Armour All-America Game on January 4, racking up a game-high seven tackles.
The All-America Game capped off Robertson’s senior season at Junipero Serra High School in which he recorded 126 total tackles, including 62 solo, 16 tackles for loss and seven sacks.
