After a disappointing weekend trip in Pullman, the Arizona State Sun Devils return home to Tempe for five games in six nights, beginning with Cal State Fullerton on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
The Sun Devils (13-14, 5-4 Pac-12) were swept by the Titans last season in a two-game series in Phoenix, but this appears to be a much different team traveling to Muni.
After winning 39 games a season ago, CSUF sits at just 10-15 and has lost its last two games. Titans batters have combined to hit .242, nearly 25 points below their mark from 2017.
However, the Titans do have their bright spots. Junior outfielder Ruben Cardenas leads all players who have appeared in 20 or more games with a .293 average, adding on three extra-base hits.
Sophomore catcher Daniel Cope is the bat to look for in the middle of the order, as he paces the team in home runs (3), doubles (6) and RBI (12), to go along with his .290 average, good for third on the team.
Due to the nature of midweek series, the starting pitching will likely be up in the air. However, CSUF used freshman Tanner Bibee in its last midweek game against USC.
He was the bright spot in a 3-1 loss to USC, as he gave up all three runs in seven innings of work while striking out five Trojans.
Both games start at 6:30 p.m. and will air on Pac-12 Networks.
