After a strong performance in the NCAA Regionals earlier this week, the defending national champion No. 12 Arizona State women’s golf team is headed to the NCAA Championships for the 34th time in program history.
The Sun Devils started the tournament a bit cold before ramping it up and stringing together a strong run on the back nine to secure a spot in the final six to move on to the NCAA Championships.
As a team, ASU had 11 birdies on the back nine led by Raquel Olmos who recorded four straight from holes 12 to 15.
Senior Roberta Liti recorded her second top-10 finish of the season after posting a 1-under, 71. Sophia Zeeb and Olivia Mehaffey rounded out the team’s four scorers as they both shot 1-over par to tie them for 23rd.
The Pac-12 had 10 of its 11 women’s golf programs participate in regionals with seven of them advancing to the Championships, including No. 1 UCLA, No. 5 Stanford and No. 6 USC.
The NCAA Championships will take place in Stillwater, Oklahoma from May 18-23. The first four rounds of NCAA’s will be stroke play followed by match play for the final two days. Arizona State looks to go back-to-back this year and secure their nation-leading ninth national championship.
