No. 2 Jake Plummer
Basic info: Born Dec. 19, 1974 in Boise, Idaho. High School: Capital High School. ASU career: 1993-1996. Professional: 1997-2006
Notables: While slinging the pigskin for the Sun Devils, Plummer threw for 8,626 yards, 64 touchdowns and finished with a total QBR of 133.8. Plummer is Top-3 in the ASU record books for single season passing yards, single-season touchdown passes, single-season passing attempts and single-season total offense yards. He was also drafted No. 42 overall by the Arizona Cardinals in 1997.
What you didn’t know: Plummer led ASU to an 11-0 (8-0 in Pac-10 play) regular season and a No. 2 ranking before losing a close one to then No. 4 Ohio State in the Rose Bowl. Plummer also led the Sun Devils to a 19-0 victory against No. 1 Nebraska.
No. 7 Eric Sogard
Basic info: Born: May 22, 1986 in Phoenix. High School: Thunderbird High School. ASU career: 2005-2007. Professional: 2010-Present
Notables: During his sophomore campaign, Sogard won Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year and also earned Second Team All-American honors from NCBWA, Collegiate Baseball Third Team and Honorable mention by Rivals.com. He was a key contributor for the Sun Devils his freshman year while also making two starts. He earned Second Team All-American honors from NCBWA, Collegiate Baseball Third Team and honorable mention by Rivals.com during his sophomore campaign.
What you didn’t know: His nickname is Nerd Power. In 2007 he was drafted No. 81 overall by the San Diego Padres and his debut was September 14, 2010.
