“He’s put a value on his experience here and he’s just going to sign his name and get out of here,” ASU manager Tracy Smith said prior to the Devils’ final series of the season against California. “I don’t think he’s in a rush. But if he gets what he’s looking for, we’d be happy for him and he’d be happy to get started.”
Lin started all 55 games for the Sun Devils, as he hit for a .312 batting average with 16 doubles, 30 runs scored and 18 RBIs. Lin was second on the club with 72 hits.
An All-Pac-12 honorable mention, Lin threw out 11 of 47 runners who attempted to steal this season.
Shall he leave to the Major Leagues, the Sun Devils may turn to sophomore catcher Sam Ferri who missed this season due to a UCL tear. Also in line to fight for a starting job is freshman Luke Leisenring.
