ASU Baseball: Eli Lingos taken by Indians in 22nd round of MLB Draft

ASU senior left-handed pitcher Eli Lingos become the third Sun Devil drafted in the 2018 MLB Draft, as he was picked by the Cleveland Indians in the 22nd round Wednesday.

Lingos got picked behind junior outfielder Gage Canning (5th round) and junior right-handed pitcher Fitz Stadler (18th round).

Lings was one of Arizona State’s most consistent pitchers through back-to-back losing seasons. The Temecula, California native finished his career going 17-18 with a 4.21 ERA. In his senior year, Lingos went 7-5 with a 3.83 ERA, throwing a team-high 91 23 innings.

The Sun Devils’ 2018 strikeout leader (72) threw his best career start against Washington State on March 31. Lingos threw his first collegiate complete game in a 7-0, six-hit shutout in Pullman.
