Herm Edwards decided to put everyone on the same sideline, which turns out made the practice much more organized than last week’s scrimmage. He enjoyed the tempo and updated everyone on injury situations.

Injury Update
Another day, another practice linebacker Koron Crump was very limited in practice trying to get back after his knee injury. He did not participate in the scrimmage portion.
Wide receiver Frank Darby, quarterback Ryan Kelley and defensive back Evan Fields all started practice in the bubble. Receiver N’Keal Harry missed practice with a headache and offensive lineman Steven Miller had street clothes on. Edwards did say both will be fine for this upcoming week.
Linebacker Jay Jay Wilson was not at practice. Edwards explained more about that situation after practice, as Wilson has been removed from team activities for violation of team rules. Edwards will decide when Wilson will return.
Starting center Cohl Cabral worked drills again, but watched from behind next to the coaches during the scrimmage session.
What went on?
The night started with warmups with all the position groups working separate. The defensive line had the best time as they huddled around before the scrimmage saying, “where my dogs at? Woof.”
Quarterback Manny Wilkins started the scrimmage session with a little too much air on his throws. Wide receiver Kyle Williams ran a perfect inside post route creating enough space in between three defenders. The window wasn’t huge, but the ball was too high as he went off the fingertips of the jumping Williams. He then also missed a open tight end Tommy Hudson, who was wide open on a broken play.
Recently switched running back Paul Lucas, who was a defensive back a few days ago, had a very nice night. Lucas took a carry for 10 yards that included a juke and trucking over a defender. He also got another first down on a swing pass that he displayed his superb track speed. Running back A.J. Carter had four straight carries during a stretch with the second team. Each carry went up the middle and he accumulated over 20 yards on the four plays.
The defensive star of the night was second team safety Joey Bryant. He had multiple pass break ups including knocking a Dillon Sterling-Cole pass to wide receiver Geordon Porter away while in the end zone. Bryant then picked off a very deep pass from Sterling-Cole and continued to run it all the way back to the other side of the field.
Defensive end Dougladson Subtyl and linebacker Stanley Lambert had back-to-back ‘sacks,’ of course, no quarterbacks were actually harmed. Defensive tackles D.J. Davidson and George Lea both had a good night of run stuffs.
For special teams, punt returns went to wide receiver Ryan Newsome and cornerback Chase Lucas. And kick returns were held by wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and running back Isaiah Floyd. Kick Brandon Ruiz made his first field goal from about 40-yards out. The next one however, safety Langston Frederick got a fingertip on it to send the kick wide left.
