Heckard hails from Las Vegas’ Faith Lutheran High School. He is ranked by both 247Sports and Rivals as a three-star recruit. Heckard has also received offers from Utah, Fresno State, Portland State, San Diego State and UNLV.
The 6-foot-5, 235 pound, Heckard is ranked as the 10th best player in Nevada and 89th for weak side defensive ends according to 247Sports.
He took an unofficial visit to Tempe in April which he also shared on Twitter:

A big reason for Heckard’s commitment goes to the work put in by defensive line coach Shaun Nua and linebackers coach Antonio Pierce. The commit also adds depth to a position that will lose seniors Jordan Hoyt and Dougladson Subtyl next season.
Heckard joins the current verbal commit class of wide receivers Andre Johnson, Ricky Pearsall, Jordan Kerley, quarterbacks Ethan Long, Joey Yellen, offensive linemen LaDarius Henderson, Roman DeWys, tight end Nolan Matthews, linebacker Connor Soelle and athlete Ty DeArman.
