Injury Update

Linebacker Koron Crump continues his rehab from his ACL. Crump stretched with the team and was having fun with his teammates prior to practice. He spent the majority of practice in the bubble.

Starting left guard Steven Miller returned to action on Tuesday after missing Monday’s practice due to a family situation.

Wide receivers Curtis Hodges and Terrell Chatman each were limited due to unspecified reasons. Hodges wasn’t seen at practice, while Chatman was suited up, but did not partake in team sessions.

Safety Jaelen Harvey participated in team drills but was held out of 11-on-11 action as he recovers from a hamstring injury.

What went on?

Freshman linebacker Darien Butler received playing time in the second team defense for the first time in fall practice. Fellow freshman backer Stanley Lambert got time with both the first and second team. Nearing the end of practice his tackle of Eno Benjamin forced a fumble that the defensive recovered.

Freshman linebacker Merlin Robertson once again received time at first-team linebacker. Robertson has impressed throughout spring camp and will likely have a big role in Danny Gonzales’ defense.

Brandon Aiyuk and Isaiah Floyd both returned kicks during the special teams portion of practice. Special teams coordinator Shawn Slocum was working with both on determining who would return the kicks and how to lead block.

Wide receiver Frank Darby caught a touchdown over cornerback Kobe Williams during the early portion of the 11-on-11 period. Darby received playing time with the first-team offense and briefly left practice, but returned quickly and appeared uninjured.

Manny Wilkins and Kyle Williams connected on a 75 yard touchdown during the two-minute offense. And the offensive team celebrated in fashion with chest bumps and shooting hoops pasted each other.

On a negative side of the two minute offense, Floyd did get an ear full from the coaches on the sideline when he cutback inside rather than walking outbounds. He did eventually get out on the ball, but something that needs to improve moving forward.

Terin Adams also had a terrific practice. Adams broke up a pass that sailed in 11-on-11s and followed that up being reading a pass from Sterling-Cole for an interception.
