Though the No. 22 Devils struggled early on in the game, it’s not about how you start, but how you finish.
A fourth quarter that began with a 13-0 run, led to a 25-point quarter and the victory for ASU (11-3, 2-1 Pac-12). The Devils completed the Rocky Mountain sweep with a 76-70 victory over the Buffaloes (10-4, 0-3) in Boulder on Sunday.
It was a momentous game for senior forward Kianna Ibis, who scored a season-high 27 points, including a 16-point first half. She was also the only Sun Devil to score in double digits.
Ibis was 10-of-18 from the field and 2-of-6 from three-point range. Ibis also led the team in rebounds with seven and steals with two.
Colorado came out of the gates on fire, led by senior guard Kennedy Leonard, the team’s all-time assist leader. Leonard scored 20 points and had 4 assists in the loss.
As a team, ASU shot better than at Utah. They were 30-of-64 from the field. They once again out-rebounded their opponent 36-33. They have only been out-rebounded once this year in the Baylor game back in November.
The Sun Devils will return home for their first conference home game of the year Friday. They will host No. 6 Stanford (12-1, 2-0). Tipoff will be at 7 p.m. It will be aired on the Pac-12 Network and can be heard on NBC Sports Radio AM 1060.
