Injury Update

Cornerback Kobe Williams was back at practice today supporting a green non-contact jersey and has a soft cast on his right hand. Herm Edwards said the senior cornerback will play as he is recovering from hand surgery.

Safety Cam Phillips was back to wearing his white defensive jersey but still had his brace around his left elbow. Linebacker Stanley Lambert also was back to wearing his defensive jersey for the first time. Freshman cornerback Jordan Clark wasn’t seen at practice today.

Steven Miller was back in full pads and taking first team snaps on the offensive line. Defensive lineman George Lea also was back at practice. Linebacker Tyler Johnson still has a wrap around his left leg but has been back practicing with the team.

What Went On

Special teams was the emphasis for the team after their daily stretching. Shawn Slocum had the team preparing for possible short kickoffs. The kickoff returners were: Brandon Aiyuk, Jack Jones and Brandon Pierce. After a few returns by each player, Slocum moved the emphasis towards the field goal unit.

With Brandon Ruiz announcing his decision to transfer yesterday, Cristian Zendejas and Josh Plaster split field goals. Zendejas went 4-for-4 on the day, ranging from 25-40 yards. Plaster took the field goal tries from a longer distance as he went 2-for-3 with his only miss being from 52 yards.

The offensive line had their full starting five back this week as Steve Miller retuned to the right tackle position. Senior center Cade Cote has continued to work with the second team.
