ASU Women’s Basketball: Devils beat Creighton, extend win streak to six

Into Pac play

Richard Martinez/ House of Sparky

In an early Friday contest, Arizona State (10-2) won their sixth straight after it took down Creighton (8-3) 70-55. The Sun Devils produced a solid defensive performance to end their non-conference schedule.

The Bluejays were led by Olivia Elger who scored 24 points on six made field goals. Outside of her, the Sun Devils held Creighton to 29 percent shooting from the field. Out of the gates Arizona State put the clamps on. Limited to eight first-quarter-points, the Bluejays never caught up after that.

As in most Sun Devil offensive box scores the rock was shared. Robbi Ryan led the way with 12 points, Jamie Ruden and Jayde Van Hyfte each had 11 points apiece. Six other Sun Devils also scored.

Arizona State never trailed against the Bluejays. Behind the 25-point third quarter explosion the Sun Devils will head into Pac-12 play on a hot streak. The Sun Devils will host rival Arizona on December 29 at 12:00 p.m.
