After the National Early Signing Period earlier this month, the Arizona State Sun Devils still have work to do on the recruiting trails. In the upcoming weeks here is a few names you’ve probably heard and need to know in terms of spots left for the Sun Devils. With 13 signees already in place and a handful of blueshirts from last year, this year’s class has five, six or so spots left for signings.
All rankings are based of the rating provided by 247Sports.
All-Purpose RB Daniyel Ngata, Folsom, CA
National Ranking: 80th Position: 2nd State: 9th
Ngata is the cousin of former Sun Devil wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. He was scheduled to make his decision earlier this year but delayed it to announce at the Under Armour All-American Game on Jan 2. It appeared Arizona State was the favorite to land him, after the delay and some question marks, the Sun Devils look to be the frontrunners again.
Scheduled Announcement: January 2 at Under Armour All-American Game on ESPN (6:00 p.m. ET)

WR Elijhah Badger, Folsom, CA
National Ranking: 126th Position: 23rd State: 15th
Badger is close friends with Ngata and Sun Devil signee Omarr Norman-Lott. The trio visited Tempe together back in December. While Ngata has wavered between choices of schools, Badger has seemed to be headed to Tempe for awhile now. Don’t be surprised if the pair announce together at the Under Armour All-American Game next week.

WR LV Bunkley-Shelton, Gardena, CA
National Ranking: 224th Position: 37th State: 22nd
With Chad Johnson Jr. and Johnny Wilson already signed, add in Bunkley-Shelton and Badger into the mix and the Sun Devils may have one of the best wide receiver classes ever. Another prospect that has been influenced by the Sun Devils new hire of Prentice Gill looks to be paying off.
Scheduled Announcement: January 4 at Army All-American Bowl on NBC (1:00 p.m. ET)

OT Kellen Diesch, Texas A&M
Diesch is currently a graduate transfer from Texas A&M. In his original recruitment, current Sun Devil offensive line coach Dave Christensen recruited Diesch to the Aggies. Now the pair look to reunite in Tempe and give the experience Herm Edwards is looking for upfront. Diesch has taken a visit to Tempe recently.

A Quarterback
Edwards made it clear that Jayden Daniels is the starting quarterback next year and going forward. However, the decision by Joey Yellen to transfer has the Sun Devils with only two scholarship quarterbacks next season. If there happened to be a long-term injury to Daniels or Ethan Long the Sun Devils would be in trouble. Right now in the recruiting process it’s hard to find a high caliber who isn’t already committed somewhere. Whether it’s through the transfer portal and trying to flip a recruit don’t be surprised to see the Sun Devils go after a quarterback.
