It’s not how you start it is how you finish.
After the first quarter, No. 20 ASU (16-6, 7-4) trailed by three, but a quick turnaround led to a 61-46 victory over Washington State (7-15, 2-9) Thursday night in Pullman, WA.
Who else but senior Kianna Ibis led the way for the Devils with 22 points and eight rebounds. Junior Robbi Ryan put together double digits as well, scoring 13 on 5 of 8 shooting.
It was a great night for Ryan who has not scored double digits since the game against Stanford (11) and just for the second time in conference play. She was perfect from three, making all three of her attempts.
The Devils truly shined coming out of halftime, when they had complete control of the Cougars, outscoring them 21-9 in the third quarter and 34-18 in the second half.
ASU had the advantage in several of the statistical categories, including rebounding. It was not the biggest margin - just 40 to 36, but the Devils continue to control the boards like they pride themselves on.
This win puts ASU in motion to potentially sweep a weekend for the first time since their Rocky Mountain road trip. They have additionally extended their winning streak to three games ahead of Saturday.
The Devils will tip off with Washington at 3 p.m. Saturday from Seattle. The game will be streamed here and can also be heard on NBC Sports Radio AM 1060.
UPDATE: Saturday's game has been cancelled due to inclement weather. More information here.
