Before Thursday’s NBA Draft, we wanted to take a look where NBA analysts predict the pair of Sun Devils, Luguentz Dort and Zylan Cheatham, are headed.
Kyle Boone, CBS Sports:
Luguentz Dort, Round 2 - No. 32 overall to the Phoenix Suns
Dort plays hard and with a tenacity that should allow him to thrive in a number of potential situations. With Jamal Crawford entering free agency, he could be a valuable backup to Devin Booker or a second-unit initiator on offense.
Zylan Cheatham, Round 2 - No. 56 overall to the Los Angeles Clippers
It’s rare to see a senior’s stock rise substantially, but Cheatham’s is blossoming notably because of his freakish leaping ability and versatility as a defender.
Kevin O’Connor, The Ringer:
Luguentz Dort, Round 2 - No. 34 overall to the Philadelphia 76ers
A power wing built like an NFL defensive end, with shot-creation skills plagued by iffy shooting and decision-making.
Zylan Cheatham, Round 2 - No. 51 overall to the Boston Celtics
Tremendous defender as an undersized big who has a knack for playmaking for a player his size.
Sam Vecenie, The Athletic:
Luguentz Dort, Round 2 - No. 31 overall to the Brooklyn Nets
Dort is considered by most executives to be in this range, with the potential to rise up into becoming a solid first rounder with a strong process. Particularly, teams will be looking for growth in his jump shot, as it has a weird spin with slightly differing release points. Still, Dort is an elite level on-ball defender, which is something the Brooklyn backcourt could use.
Jeremy Woo, Sports Illustrated:
Luguentz Dort, Round 2 - No. 31 overall to the Brooklyn Nets
Dort would be nice value for someone if he falls into the early second round, and his physical attributes help make up for his shortcomings as a shooter in this part of the draft. The Nets could conceivably have him in the mix at 27. It won’t be a surprise if he ends up going in the 20s.
Krysten Peek, Yahoo! Sports:
Luguentz Dort, Round 1 - No. 28 overall to the Golden State Warriors
You can see the draft at 4 p.m. Arizona time on ESPN.
