ASU Football: Terin Adams and John Humphrey transfer out of the program

On Monday, two now-former Sun Devils announced their intentions to leave the program for another opportunity elsewhere. Redshirt senior wide receiver John Humphrey put this out on Twitter:

Head Coach Herm Edwards announced after practice during his press conference that redshirt junior cornerback Terin Adams is headed to Utah State.

Humphrey hasn’t played in a game since 2017. In his only season on the field, he made a total of 13 receptions for 177 yards and a touchdown. He was expected to play a larger role in 2018, but tore his achilles before the season.

In early fall practice, Humphrey seemed to have a bit of an injury issue causing him to be on and off the field. In that time, freshmen wide outs Jordan Kerley, Andre Johnson and Ricky Pearsall all seemed to leap over Humphrey. He’ll be able to transfer freely because he started his career at Oklahoma before transferring to Tempe.

In Adams case, he entered the transfer portal back in April. He was a bit of a surprise to see Adams back on the practice field once fall camp begin. But the cornerback room got crowded quickly.

Behind starters Chase Lucas and Kobe Williams, freshman Jordan Clark and redshirt sophomore Timarcus Davis, who redshirted last season after transferring from Baylor, had gotten most of the second team opportunities. Along with the addition of former five-star Jack Jones and the plan to include freshman Keon Markham in the rotation, Adams probably felt best suited elsewhere.

In his one season as a Sun Devil after coming from San Francisco City College, Adams had 30 tackles and a pass defended.
