Thursday morning, Head Coach Bob Bowman revealed volunteer assistant coach Logan Hirka’s promotion to an assistant coach.
Hirka is entering his fourth year with the program in various capacities, including Pitchfork Aquatics and the Olympic prep group.
In early August, women’s mid-distance and distance coach Dan Kesler announced a move to Associate Head Swimming Coach at Florida State. Kesler is known best for his work with senior Cierra Runge and junior Emma Nordin, both of whom combined for six broken school records last season and 41 of ASU’s 61 points at the NCAA meet.
“He coached with us in the summer in the club program, so he knows our system in and out and he’s the perfect choice for this position,” Bowman announced.
With a void to fill in the highest point-scoring division of the women’s team, Hirka will likely ease the pressure put on Bowman to improve on the women’s 20th-place finish at the NCAA meet last year.
