Sun Devils practice in the bubble

Richard Martinez/ House of Sparky

ASU continued to practice in the bubble as the Tempe weather left puddles around the practice field. The team departs Thursday for their Friday night game against No.15 Cal on ESPN.

Last Practice: Monady, September 23

Next Practice: Wednesday, September 25 (closed practice)

Injury Update

Linebacker Stanley Lambert continues to wear the green non-contact jersey as he rehabs from his ACL injury. Cornerback Kobe Williams and safety Cam Phillips both wore green jerseys. Defensive Coordinator Danny Gonzales said Phillips had dislocated his elbow late in the fourth quarter in the team’s loss to Colorado.

Starting right tackle Steven Miller was back taking first team snaps.

What Went On

The Sun Devils continued to work on their special teams as they try and improve on field position against a strong Cal defense.

Wide Receivers Brandon Aiyuk and Brandon Pierce were back taking kickoff/punt returns as well as cornerback Jack Jones. The three players have been back returning for the first four games.

Quarterback Dillon Sterling-Cole was seen on the field taking part in the team’s punt coverage.

With Steve Miller returning to the starting right tackle spot, Roy Hemsley was back with the second team. As mentioned yesterday, a short week for the Sun Devils can see Hemsley taking snaps.
