Although he’s just a few games into his pro career, former Arizona State wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is already making his mark with the San Francisco 49ers.
The former Sun Devil had six receptions for a career-high 115 receiving yards in a 33-6 blowout of the New England Patriots in Foxborough. Aiyuk also had his longest catch, hauling in a 35-yard deep ball from 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

“I think it’s just being in spots that I’m supposed to be in and spots that Jimmy’s expecting me to be in and the ball came to me when I did that,” said Aiyuk after the game. “Obviously, that was exciting to have the first 100-yard game, but I feel there’s a lot more to prove from and a lot more to build.”
In just five games played, Aiyuk now has 14 receptions for 165 yards. He also has three touchdowns, with one through the air and the other two on the ground as a rusher.
As he did during his two years at ASU, Aiyuk has been a YAC machine and has been used all over the field in Kyle Shanahan’s offense.
He’s poised to grow even more as he gets more game experience. Although Aiyuk had a solid performance, too, if there was one down side to Sunday’s game with the Patriots, it was what happened on the New England side of the ball.
In a game where Sun Devil fans could be proud watching Aiyuk and N’Keal Harry go up against each other, the experience was short-lived as Harry left the game with a head injury and possible concussion in the first quarter. He did not return to action.
