After the Sun Devils opened Saturday’s game with a three-and-out and allowing the Beavers to score on their opening drive, Arizona State (2-2) settled in and dominated Oregon State (2-5) 46-33.

Beaver quarterback Chance Nolan found Tyjon Lindsey wide open in the back of the end zone to put Oregon State on top first. Arizona State responded with four straight touchdowns, with help from all three phases of the game.

Chip Trayanum finished off a seven-play drive with a touchdown. The game-tying drive included a 51-yard rush from Raachad White.

After a blocked punt, Jayden Daniels eventually ran in for a score in the second quarter. Following a forced fumble by Evan Fields, Daniels found Geordon Porter for a 63-yard touchdown off of play action. White scored the fourth touchdown to put Arizona State up 26-7 with 7:22 in the second quarter.

Oregon State finally responded with a 65-yard touchdown drive without completing a pass. Jermar Jefferson had a 25-yard rush to put the Beavers in the red zone. Jack Colletto punched in the score and later the two-point conversation to pull his team within 11.

Arizona State took a 26-15 lead into halftime.

On Oregon State’s first possession of the second half, DeAndre Pierce picked off Nolan. The Arizona State offense got going from its own 5-yard line. White had 41 total yards on the drive before Daniels took off for a 53-yard touchdown run.

Jefferson and Colletto led the way on the next drive, and Colletto came in again at quarterback and ran in another touchdown from 11 yards out.

The Beavers attempt at a comeback didn’t last long, though. The next drive for the ASU, White took off for a 55-yard touchdown to make it 40-21 Arizona State.

The Beavers faced their make or break moment late in the third quarter. On a fourth-and-1 call, Oregon State ran a trick play with a direct snap to Lindsey — while Nolan faked a quarterback sneak — who tossed it to Teagan Quitoriano for a 46-yard gain. Nolan then found Tre’Shaun Harrison for a 24-yard score.

Arizona State forced one of the game’s few punts in the fourth quarter. Oregon State had a snap go wrong and gave the Sun Devils great field position. On the next play, Ricky Pearsall scored on a 29-yard touchdown.

Oregon State let Ben Gulbranson get his first reps at quarterback to close out the game. He found Zeriah Beason for the score as time expired but it was too little, too late.

Daniels went 8-15 in the air for a touchdown, plus 139 yards and he added 83 rushing yards with a pair of scores.

White had 158 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Trayanum and fellow freshman Daniyel Ngata combined for 105 yards on the ground. Fields led Sun Devil defenders with 10 tackles. ASU finishes a weird and challenging 2020 season at 2-2 overall.
