Wednesday night, the Sun Devils (10-4) completed the two game sweep at Cal State Fullerton (4-9), taking down the Titans by a score of 9-3.
The bats were hot yet again as the maroon and gold offense scored nine or more runs for the fifth game in a row. Aside from Spencer Torkelson, everyone one through six in the order threw up a multi-hit game in the win.
Drew Swift just stayed that much hotter.
The junior collected a 4-for-5 outing with two RBI and a pair of runs scored. This marks Swift’s eighth multi-hit game of the year and has extended his hit streak to five games (he has hits in nine of his last ten games). His batting average sits at a .404 clip.
Trevor Hauver went 2-for-5 and slugged his fourth home run of the year in the victory and is now riding a 12-game hit streak. Gage Workman, Alika Williams and Hunter Jump had two-hit nights, and freshman Nate Baez launched his first career Sun Devil home run in the top of the eighth.
Lefty Erik Tolman pieced together a quality start, lasting six innings while giving up just two earned runs. His walk total got a bit high, allowing five base on balls, but the sophomore also punched out eight hitters, bringing his season total to 30 in just four appearances (three of them being starts).
Cam Dennie, Seth Tomczak, Bryce Barnett and RJ Dabovich combined for the final three innings of work, Tomczak allowing the only additional run after Tolman’s exit.
Arizona State returns home for a three-game weekend set with Fresno State. First pitch on Friday is set for 6:30 p.m. from Phoenix Municipal Stadium.
