The decision comes shortly after guard Remy Martin announced he declaration for the draft. However, in White’s case it appears he is more testing the waters and leaving open the door to return for his senior season in Tempe.
White nearly averaged a double double over the course of the 2019-20 season with 10.2 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. Sun Devil coach Bobby Hurley tweeted “I strongly support Mello’s decision to explore the NBA draft process,” shortly after the news broke on Twitter.
This is White’s comments in the graphic released:
“I would like to announce that I have decided to submit my name to the NBA Draft Committee in order to receive feedback as I aim to pursue my lifelong dream of playing in the NBA.”
