Back in September, Sun Devil soccer played a frustrating contest against Weber State, but came through with a win thanks to Olive Jones.
The Rundown:
The theme of Arizona State’s eventual 1-0 win over Weber State was to prevent something that had occurred in the 2018 season to the Sun Devils. A disappointing loss filled with shots and missed chances led to Arizona State falling to New Hampshire.
Coach Graham Winkworth didn’t want a repeat of that after seeing his team dominant the attack against Weber State with nothing to show for it. The Sun Devils ended the game outshooting Weber State 27-2. That included six first-half-saves from Weber State goalkeeper Nikki Pittman.
In overtime, the Sun Devils had a 100 percent shot-to-goal conversion rate. Defender Lieske Carleer fit a pass perfectly into the box as Jones pumped her right foot onto it for the golden goal and the Sun Devil win.
