The Rundown:
This Sun Devil Classic is a 2-for-1 deal, as ASU swept its first top-10 opponent in program history by taking down No. 9 Quinnipiac in back-to-back days.
Playing an opponent who ended their season the year prior in the NCAA Tournament, the Sun Devils had revenge on their minds, and they played one of their most complete series’ all year.
In game one, junior defenseman Jacob Wilson, who was unable to play against the Bobcats a year prior due to a suspension, ended up scoring the first ASU goal of the evening off a juicy rebound.
Fellow defensemen Josh Maniscalco and Jack Judson followed suit with goals of themselves, and freshman forward Logan Jenuwine buried two goals to cap off a 5-3 victory on Friday night.
Although he would later be dismissed from the program early on in the regular season, Jenuwine’s presence was felt in the upset.
Then in Saturday’s second game, ASU rolled to a 4-1 victory, clamping down on the Bobcats on home ice. Jenuwine added another goal, and so did forwards PJ Marrocco and Johnny Walker, helping to seal off a series sweep against the opponent who ended their season a year prior.
