Both Maddi and Kindra Hackbarth were named Softball America All-Americans on Monday in the publication’s shortened season list.
Kindra made first team, while her sister was named to the third team. Together, the duo wreaked havoc in non-conference play, and they helped power one of the most dynamic offenses in the country up until the 2020 season was put on hold.
Maddi hit .350 with with 28 hits, nine doubles, one triple, nine home runs, and 32 RBI’s while starting in every one of ASU’s 29 games behind the plate.
She was tied for the team lead in home runs along with freshman shortstop Alynah Torres, and Maddi led the team in RBI’s. Furthermore, she led the entire Pac-12 in slugging percentage at .825.
As for Kindra, her average was a scorching .443 with 11 doubles, one triple, six home runs, and 27 RBI’s while starting every game in center field. Hitting out of the leadoff spot, Kindra also crossed the plate 32 times, which was the third most nationally.

And likely much to the dismay of opposing pitching staffs who have to face ASU next year, both twins, who were seniors this season, will be back next year after the NCAA granted both players an extra year of eligibility with Coronavirus outbreaks ending the 2020 campaign early.
As a team, ASU led the entire nation in home runs with 50, and they’ll look to stay on that pace with their two twin sister All-Americans anchoring one of the most explosive offenses in the country in 2021.
