As Arizona State will attempt to rebuild its lineup after losing top pieces of Spencer Torkelson, Alika Williams, Gage Workman and Trevor Hauver to the draft, the Sun Devils will be pitcher heavy in 2021. On Monday, Arizona State received another arm for its staff. Jay Baggs, a 6-foot-6 right-handed pitcher, who was looking for a new home after Boise State cut its baseball program.
Thank you to my friends and family for supporting my decision. I am committed to play baseball at Arizona State University! #forksup #godevils pic.twitter.com/gXHOVGFY2m— Jay Baggs (@19baggsjt) July 13, 2020
Baggs’ threw 7.1 innings allowing eight runs, striking out eight and having a .267 batting average against. Different scouting reports have Baggs throwing his fastball in the mid-90s and having a slider as well. Baggs will have four years of eligibility left.
