Incoming Devils: Looking at soccer’s 2020 recruiting class

More international talent

Brady Vernon/House of Sparky

We continue our series looking at future Sun Devils with the 2020 class coming to the pitch. Coach Graham Winkworth continues his international influence in Tempe with this class, hoping to help the Arizona State get back to the NCAA Tournament.

Jael Larson, Forward, Durango, Colo.

Larson has been to a handful of Sun Devil camps in her life and is making a dream of being a part of the Arizona State soccer team a reality. According to MaxPreps, in 39 games, she scored eight goals and had five assists.

Lucy Johnson, Defender, England

Johnson spent the past two seasons in the Leicester City women’s system. In the shortened season, she made 12 appearances with one goal and an assist over that time.

The video below starts with a goal from Johnson with Leicester City

Tahlia Herman-Watt, Outside Back, New Zealand

Herman-Watt found plenty of success in New Zealand as part of the Canterbury United Pride, the reigning champions of the New Zealand National Women’s League. She adds depth to a young backline that struggled at times last year.

Jazmine Wilkinson, Midfielder, Canada

Wilkinson comes into the position that is probably the deepest and most talented with Eva Van Duerson, Alexia Delgado and Isabel Dehakiz. She’s had plenty of experience in different levels in Canada’s national team.

Pia Bozic, Goalkeeper, Slovenia

Bozic comes in as the team’s third goalkeeper joining Giulia Cascapera, the primary starter from last season and Amanda Green, who has yet to see the field in her first two seasons in Tempe.
