Future spikes, sets and blocks

Richard Martinez/ House of Sparky

Coming off of her first winning season at Arizona State, Sanja Tomasevic and Sun Devil volleyball welcomes six new freshmen to the 2020 roster.

Roberta Rabelo, Outside Hitter, Grêmio Náutico União (Brazil)

At the Brazilian Nationally Cup despite her team placing second she earned the most valuable player. She is listed at 6-foot.

“Roberta has a good arm, played middle before, so she has the ability to play middle or outside,” Tomasevic said in a January statement. “I’m excited to get to coach her and I hope she can bring her Brazilian mentality to never quit, never give up, and be passionate about everything she does.”

Ella Snyder, Setter, Mira Costa (Manhattan Beach, Calif.)

Snyder comes from a volleyball family. Her mom played at Loyola Marymount, sister at Maryland and a twin brother that is headed to Penn State. Listed as the Mira Costa team MVP in her last season.

“Ella comes from a volleyball family, good volleyball club in California. She has played high level volleyball her whole life,” Tomasevic said in a January statement. “I’m excited for her to join us. She’s very familiar with what we are teaching. I’m looking forward to her growing with us and leading us to more wins next season.”

Claudia Stahlke, Middle blocker, Mayer Lutheran (Waconia, Minn.)

Stahlke racked up the achievements at Mayer Lutheran High School. A two-time state champion, two-time Minnesota State High School Volleyball All-State, two-time Class A Showcase All-Tournament Team and Minnesota River All-Conference.

“Claudia adds depth to the middle position,” Tomasevic said in a January statement. “She is a good kid from a good family. She adds size to our roster. I’m looking forward to having her on the team and seeing her grow as a Sun Devil.”

Marta Levinska, Outside hitter, Rigas Volejbola Skola (Latvia)

The 6-foot-2 recruit from Latvia was ranked 120th by Women Volleybox.

Ayyuce Altintas, Middle blocker, Karayolları Genel Müdürlüğü (Turkey)

The 6-foot-2 Turkish middle blocker will add depth for the Sun Devils.

Jinna Zeng, Libero, Pacific Academy (Surrey, BC, Canada)
