Arizona State special teams coordinator Shawn Slocum keeps on adding players and commits to his department.

On Monday afternoon, 2021 long snapper John Ferlmann out of Boulder Creek High School in Anthem elected to stay close to home and commit to Arizona State. Ferlmann is 6-foot-3, 225 pounds and had other interest from Air Force as well.

Rubio Long Snapping is a training service and camp for high school players that was founded by former UCLA long snapper Chris Rubio.

Rubio trains, instructs, and hosts camps for players interested in long snapping. He has helped over 500 long snappers play at the Division I and NFL level.

Ferlmann is another product of the camp, and according to Rubio’s long snapping site, he is ranked as a five-star long snapper and the No. 7 player at the position in the entire nation.

Ferlmann is the second in-state commitment of the 2021 class, and he’s the second player joining the special teams unit along with kicker/punter Edward Czaplicki. Here’s a short reel of Ferlmann at one of Rubio’s camps in Las Vegas.
