Sun Devil Olympic Sports begin a busy spring

A lot going on

The spring will be busy for a lot of Sun Devil sports. Track and Field, Men’s Golf, Gymnastics and Wrestling will all be in action in various places this weekend.

Track and Field at Texas A&M’s Ted Nelson Invitational

Arizona State heads to Texas A&M’s Ted Nelson Invitational on Saturday with events ending at 2:30 p.m. MT. Events can be seen on SEC Network plus.

Top Ranked Men’s Golf faces Arizona in Copper Cup

Matt Thurmond’s team, ranked No. 1 by Golf Channel, will face a really good Arizona Wildcat golf team in a two-day Copper Cup in Maricopa.

The two teams will tee up Sunday and Monday in a Ryder Cup type format as each team will have eight players compete. There is 24 total points and the first to 12.5 will win.

Ninth-ranked Wrestling heads to Iowa for a quad meet

Update: Due to Covid-19 developments in the program, Arizona State will not compete in Ames.

The Sun Devils hit the mats against No. 6 Iowa State, No. 15 Missouri and Northern Iowa on Sunday. Arizona State is coming off a big win in Norman against No. 20 Oklahoma last week. Zeke Jones’ squad topped Iowa State and Missouri last year.

No. 11 Sun Devil Gymnastics look for first win against BYU

The lone program competing at home this weekend will be the young gymnastics squad. Last week, Arizona State fell to No. 2 Oklahoma. Now, No. 10 BYU comes to Desert Financial Arena on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. MT.

The Cougars placed second at the Rio Tinto Best of Utah NCAA Gymnastics last week. They bested Utah State and Southern Utah but fell short of No. 3 Utah.
