There’s not many better ways to open up a season than Arizona State volleyball’s (1-0) win over No. 8 Washington. The Sun Devils swept the Huskies in Seattle 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 28-26).
Freshman Marta Levinska led the way with 18 kills, including the final blow to secure the game. Fellow freshman Ella Snyder added a double-double with her 36 assists and 11 digs. She also had two kills. Sophomore Iman Isanovic had 12 kills and 11 digs.
The first game saw Washington race out to a 14-8 lead early on. A 6-0 run helped the Sun Devils take the lead and they ran with it from there.
Game two of the match was all Arizona State. After things were tied up at two, the Sun Devils took the lead on a combined block from Kennedi Boyd and Maddie McLaughlin, who each had four blocks.
The clincher was the closest of them all. The largest lead by either team was four. Despite Arizona State having a 24-22 lead, it couldn’t finish it off there.
Washington tied things up and even took a one-point lead. The Sun Devils rallied off of three straight kills from Megan Beedie, Levinska and Isanovic to clinch the win.
