ASU Women’s Golf: Sun Devils, Forsterling lead after Day One of The Match in the Desert

The Arizona State’s women’s golf team opened its season on Sunday. In the rain at Superstition Mountain Golf Club in Gold Canyon, Ariz. the Sun Devils, UCLA and Denver University started The Match in the Desert.

After the first day, here are the team standings:

Arizona State (-10)

UCLA (-5)

Denver (E)

Junior Alexandra Forsterling shot an round one best 68, putting her at -4 and at the top of all individuals. Linn Grant (-3), Olivia Mehaffey (-1) and Alessandra Fanali (-2) also all scored under par.

“What a great way to start off our season,” coach Missy Farr-Kaye said in a release. “Great play from all 5 players. The team handled the difficult weather conditions very well. Hopefully we will be able to complete tomorrow’s round.”
