ASU Football: Sun Devils rise to 18th in latest AP Poll

Keep going up

Richard Martinez/ House of Sparky

Arizona State continues to move up. In Sunday’s latest AP Poll, the Sun Devils are ranked 18th in the country. Oregon, which comes in at ninth, is the only other ranked team in the Pac-12, and the Ducks and Devils are the only two to receive any votes.

This is the second highest ranking ever for Arizona State under Herm Edwards. Oddly enough, after starting 5-1 back in 2019, the Sun Devils were ranked 17th when they headed to Utah. That trip did not end very well and the Sun Devils hope for a much better result in Salt Lake this upcoming Saturday.

The team’s 3-0 start in Pac-12 play is the first since 2012. Arizona State can truly establish itself as the Pac-12 South leader heading into its bye with a win at Utah. However, the Utes, fresh off a blow out win of USC, are playing better the past two weeks.
