ASU Soccer: First Pac-12 win evades Sun Devils, Cal wins 1-0

This game did not have a live stream, minor details aren’t known

Arizona State soccer (8-7-2, 0-6-2 Pac-12) hasn’t caught many breaks since conference season started. The Sun Devils matchup against Cal (3-8-2, 1-5-0) Sunday moved from Edwards Stadium to Witter Rugby Field because of the heavy rain in the area.

The weather seemed to affect the struggling Sun Devil attack even more. Nicole Douglas created four of Arizona State’s shots (two were on goal). Outside of Douglas, the rest of the team had two shots on goal and six total shots.

Cal used that to its advantage. Angelina Anderson saved all four shots on goal and the Golden Bears shutout Arizona State to win 1-0.

The game’s lone goal came from Ayo Oke in the 42nd minute. According to Cal’s recap, Anysa Gray assisted the goal after drippling the length of the pitch on a counterattack following a Sun Devil corner.

Soccer can be tough on the heartstrings. For the Sun Devils, both draws against the Washington schools arguably should’ve been wins for Arizona State. Five of the six Pac-12 losses have been one goal. It’s just been one of those years.
