No. 12 Washington volleyball (17-4, 10-3 Pac-12) snapped Arizona State’s (13-11, 6-7) winning streak on Friday. The Sun Devils struggled to find a consistent attack in the 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-16) loss.
Iman Isanovic had 11 kills, but no other Sun Devil had more than five. Arizona State didn’t commit many errors either. Claire Jeter had five herself, while Marta Levinska and Roberta Rabelo each had three.
The biggest issue for Arizona State was aces. Washington earned 11 aces in its win, while the Sun Devils had zero. All-American Claire Hoffman collected four aces and 15 kills overall. The Sun Devil defense had more blocks than the Huskies, but hard to block a ball that’s not allowed to be blocked in terms of the serves.
The Sun Devils will try to bounce back on Sunday against Washington State. Magda Jehlarova and the Cougars have given Arizona State issues in the past calendar year, and it’ll be interesting to see the response from Arizona State.
