Arizona State men’s and women’s golf finished tournaments on Wednesday. Linn Grant shined for the women winning the individual title at the Sun Devil Winter Classic here in Scottsdale, Ariz. at Talking Stick Golf Club.
UCLA’s Emma Spitz gave Grant a run for her money, but Grant’s 67 on her final round secured the victory.
Led by Grant’s -9 overall, Arizona State as a team finished second behind only USC. The Sun Devils fell four shots short of the title. However, ASU and USC were the only two team to finish under par.
Amanda Linner finished tied for six after a -1 performance and Alexandra Forsterling finished just outside the top-10. As an individual, Ashley Menne finished at an even par.
The men finished their third round at The Prestige tournament in Palm Desert, Calif. David Puig once again was the Sun Devils best golfer.
His 64 on the first round set him in the lead but he tailed off and later finished tied for seven at -1. Chan An Yu was right behind him at an even par. Arizona State as a team finished fourth at +2.
Grant and the women are scheduled to return to play March 1 at the Bruin Wave Invitational in Somis, Calif.
