Sun Devil soccer and volleyball continued its seasons on Sunday with split results.

Nicole Douglas is a magician with her scoring abilities thus far. Against New Mexico State (0-1), Douglas notched her second career hat trick in Arizona State’s (2-0) 4-0 win.

Douglas started the scoring in 23rd minute. Olivia Nguyen kept the ball alive trough defenders before leading a back pass to Douglas, who fired it into the bottom right corner.

Her second strike came in the 71st. Eva Van Deursen and and Alexia Delgado started a build up that Douglas finished off with another goal. To finish off her hat trick, Douglas got her head on the other end of a ball in the 79th minute.

Van Deursen scored, netting her first score of the season off an assist from Olive Jones. After starting the majority of 2019, Giulia Cascapera started back in goal. The Aggies only had three shots and she saved them all.

Arizona State returns to action next week with the start of their home-and-home series against Grand Canyon. The Sun Devils will be the visitors on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. MT. before hosting the Lopes on Sunday at the same time.

Arizona State (1-5) struggled to get going against No. 8 Utah (6-0) on Sunday. The Utes were once again led by Dani Drews and her 20 kills to a 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-19) match victory.

Iman Isanovic nearly matched Drews’ kill count. The Sun Devil outside hitter had 15 kills and .297 hitting percentage.

Georgia transfer Regan Tinkle was third in total attempts for ASU and made the most of her biggest opportunity this season. Tinkle had seven kills, the second most on the team, and a block.
