Chances were few and far between for Arizona State (6-0-2, 2-0-2) on Sunday, but Nicole Douglas only needed one.
She got on the other end of a beautiful pass from Jazmine Wilkinson and created enough space between three Beaver defenders to score the game-winning goal in overtime to top Oregon State (2-6-0, 0-5-0) 1-0.

Two shots on goal were all the Sun Devils could muster up on Sunday. The other, aside from Douglas’ goal, was stopped on quite the effort from Oregon State keeper Bridgette Skiba.
Arizona State’s Eva Van Deursen basically had a one-on-one opportunity with Skiba as regulation was coming to a close. Van Deursen had a quality shot that Skiba put her right hand on to push the game into overtime.
ASU wouldn’t have got to that point without the performance of Giulia Cascapera in goal. Arizona State’s attack in the first half was lackluster and only had one shot. Meanwhile, Cascapera had five saves in the first 45 minutes.
That allowed her team to come out with a lot more energy out of halftime and in overtime. Jessica Hale also had a really nice day on the backline.
She won a handful of individual chances versus Oregon State attackers and used her speed to create a few opportunities for the Sun Devils as well.
Arizona State continues its road swing with a visit to Tucson on March 19 to face Arizona at 7:00 p.m. MT.
