Hopefully better days ahead

The dates are finalized and Sun Devil Football has its schedule for the 2021 season. Arizona State will host seven games and only travel five times over the course of the 12-game regular season. The Pac-12 announced conference games on Tuesday to complete the schedule.

The season opener on Thursday, Sept. 2 will feature Southern Utah followed by another home game against UNLV on Sept. 11. In its first road game, Arizona State travels to Utah to face — luckily — the Zach Wilson-less BYU Cougars on Sept. 18.

After opening up conference play in Tempe against Colorado on Sept. 25, October has four games and a bye week. The Sun Devils host Stanford on Friday, Oct. 8 and Washington State on Oct. 30 following their bye week. They’ll travel Utah (Oct. 2) and UCLA (Oct. 16) as well.

The final month of the season might truly test Arizona State’s chances at reaching Dec. 3’s Pac-12 title game in Las Vegas. The USC Trojans come to Sun Devil Stadium on Nov. 6. The Sun Devils then head to the Pacific Northwest for back-to-back games against Washington and Oregon State. Then Arizona State hosts the Territorial Cup on Nov. 27.
