Water Polo

No. 4 Arizona State water polo (8-4, 2-1 Pac-12) returned to Mona Plummer Center on Saturday and got the win. The Sun Devils used a stellar start to beat 17th-ranked San Jose State (1-4, 0-1) 11-4.

The Spartans scored the game’s opening goal, but Arizona State responded with five unanswered scores.

Bente Rogge registered back-to-back goals and her team never looked back. San Jose State never pulled within three again. Amira Van Buren, Ali Cameron and Borbala Kekesi each had two goals as well.

The two teams meet again on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Arizona Time.

Women’s Tennis

No. 25 Arizona State (9-5, 3-1 Pac-12) started the day on a high note against No. 20 California (10-2, 3-1), but ultimately fell 6-1. Sammi Hampton/Marianna Argyrokastriti and Giulia Morlet/Domenika Turkovic were able to pull away with the doubles point.

However, it was all Golden Bears in the singles matches as Cal won 6-1. Marianna Argyrokastriti, Lauryn John-Baptiste and Sammi Hampton pushed their matches to three sets but none were able to prevail.

The Sun Devils return home to face New Mexico State on March 24.
