The Arizona State women’s basketball team came out victorious in a 50-39 win against Missouri Saturday morning.

This was a consolation game in the Fort Worth consolation bracket of the 2021 Postseason WNIT. ASU lost to Rice in the first-round on Friday.

Freshman Jaddan Simmons recorded 18 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.

“I think she has had an amazing freshman campaign,” said coach Charli Turner Thorne. “Of course there have been ups and downs, but I think she really responded well from yesterday’s game.”

Taya Hanson was the other leading scorer for the Sun Devils with 12 points in 28 minutes on the court.

“We just played with our hearts today,” Hanson said. “It was a full team effort and everyone was working their butts off. We were playing great team defense and just coming down and getting our own boards, hitting shots like we know we can do.”

Arizona State advances to play its final game of the 2020-2021 season on Monday.

“Every day that we’re getting to prep and prepare and teach this team is invaluable,” Turner Thorne said. “It’s amazing still what we don’t know, because there’s so little experience on this team. It’s gonna be valuable, and really grateful that we can be here and get one more game.”

ASU will take on Houston in the final consolation game of the Postseason WNIT Fort Worth Regional Monday at 2 p.m. local time.
