Coming into the fourth and final round on Monday, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State were rolling at NCAA Championships hosted by Grayhawk Golf Club. Arizona State reminded everyone it’s not how you start, but how you finish.

The Sun Devils’ shot a fantastic 275 in the fourth round to secure the top seed heading into Tuesday’s eight-team playoff. Arizona State was helped out by rough days from the Cowboys and Sooners, but the Sun Devils and Pepperdine were the only teams to shoot under par on Monday.

Ryggs Johnston finished third on the individual leaderboard at -5 for the tournament, only two strokes behind Clemson’s Turk Pettit, the eventual individual champion. Cameron Sisk (-1, T8) and Chun An Yu (+2, T13) also finished in the top 15 on the individual leaderboards.

Arizona State will now face North Carolina in the quarterfinal, a team that finished 28 shots behind the Sun Devils’ -3 total. Tuesday will also consist of the semifinals, where a victory over North Carolina would put Arizona State up against the winner of Oklahoma and Illinois.
