No. 7 TCU has five players ranked in the top 110 ranked individuals and Arizona State felt that presence on Sunday. The Horned Frogs knocked the Sun Devils out of the NCAA Tournament after a 4-1 win.
Arizona State started the match by taking the doubles point with wins from Makey Rakotomalala/Tim Ruehl and Max McKennon/Nathan Ponwith pairings.
It was all TCU on the singles courts. McKennon retired due to injury on court court. Meanwhile, TCU’s No. 12 Alastair Gray, No. 110 Jake Fearnley and Tadeas Paroulek swept their matches to push the Horned Frogs into the third round of the NCAA Tournament.
Ponwith will continue his season by heading to the NCAA Singles Championship that kicks off May 23 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
