Arizona State’s Turner Washington took home the NCAA Outdoor shot title on day one of the NCAA Championships in Eugene on Wednesday.
Washington earned the victory with a pivotal third throw that went a distance of 21.10m/69-2.75 to capture the crown.

The championship marks Washington’s sweep in the track and field shot put season, as he claimed national titles in both the indoor and outdoor shot as well.
A Tucson native who attended Canyon Del Oro High School, Washington transferred to ASU in 2018 from down south at Arizona, and since then he has claimed two championships.
Washington is now the sixth Sun Devil to win the men’s outdoor title in program history. Overall, he is also the 50th athlete in school history to win an individual outdoor title.
