Once a top recruit

One of the top recruits of the Herm Edwards and Antonio Pierce is moving on. On Thursday, Arizona State defensive lineman Stephon Wright entered the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Wright only played six games in his two seasons in Tempe. He recorded only one tackle in that time. Injuries limited Wright to four games in 2019 and two contest last season as he has had surgeries on both of his shoulders since coming into the program.

The former four-star recruit was seen as the 240th best player in the class of 2019 according to 247Sports. He also took visits to Pac-12 foes; Oregon, Washington and Colorado. Wright also held offers from the likes of Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, USC and plenty more.

It is easy to link the recent NCAA investigation as a reason for Wright’s soon to be departure, but this seems more like a player that wants a fresh start after a few unfortunate events.
