Michael Turk has found his new home. He announced on his Instagram that he’ll be headed to Oklahoma. The punter entered the transfer portal earlier this month after Arizona State required players to receive the COVID-19 vaccine to travel for road games.
Turk — unless an unforeseen circumstance changes — won’t be able to play this fall for the Sooners as the deadline to transfer and receive immediate eligibility already passed on July 1. It’ll be interesting if Turk does choose to stay for next season and play or train at the Oklahoma program for the NFL draft after he had entered the draft process in 2020 and went undrafted, before receiving a wavier to return to school.
During a YouTube livestream, Turk mentioned he also received offers from TCU, Nebraska, Syracuse and Utah during his process. The former All-Conference selection leaves the Sun Devils in a strange hole that will likely be filled by either veteran and former Florida State transfer Logan Tyler or freshman Eddie Czaplicki.
