Just five days before the season opener, Arizona State’s kicking situation just became a lot clearer. Former Sun Devil Christian Zendejas, who was in the transfer portal, announced Saturday that he will be returning to the program via his Instagram page.
Excited!! Love Sun Devil Nation ! #8 https://t.co/lYQfm55UJ5

Following Zendejas’ entrance into the portal in January, it was assumed that Logan Tyler would serve as the team’s place kicker. Although things were shaken up with the departure of Michael Turk, Zendejas’ presence will surely calm the nerves of Herm Edwards, who has mentioned the importance of the kicking game when discussing the uncertainty at the position during preseason practice.
While his range has never been jaw-dropping, his consistency from inside 35 makes him a weapon at the college level.
It’s unclear when Zendejas will be available, as he obviously hasn’t been at team practice all month. In a situtation when and if Zendejas is able to return quickly, Tyler, who primarily punted in his time at Florida State, could step into that void of Turk’s and Zendejas return to his old spot.
